Truck Inspections
We are authorised to perform annual roadworthy and safety inspections on trucks and cars of all types. You can bring the truck to our workshop during our open hours or make an appointment to get in when you want to.
Inspections are conducted annually. To ensure you’re always operating a vehicle with current registration, you can make an appointment months in advance at our workshop. If you have multiple vehicles that need to be inspected, or you need inspections for vehicles that aren’t road safe, you can set up an appointment for us to come inspect your equipment on-site.
We perform inspections for a number of different types of vehicles. Not only trucks and cars, but also cranes and caravans. Our inspections are performed in accordance with national standards for safety and roadworthiness, when applicable.
For vehicles that fail an inspection, we can perform repairs and clear defect notices. Even if your truck or vehicle as inspected elsewhere, we’ll perform another inspection after the work is finished and clear the defect notice once it meets the right standard.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is typically included in a truck service?
A standard truck service typically includes a thorough inspection and maintenance of key components to ensure the vehicle is safe and performing well. This may involve changing engine oil and filters, checking and topping up fluids, inspecting brakes, steering and suspension systems, testing battery and electrical systems, and assessing tyres and lights. For heavy vehicles, additional safety and compliance checks are usually carried out to meet legal requirements. Some services may also include roadworthy inspections and logbook servicing, depending on the age and use of the truck.
How often should trucks be serviced?
Service intervals for trucks depend on the make, model and how the vehicle is used. As a general rule, heavy trucks should be serviced every 10,000 to 20,000 kilometres, or at least every six months. Trucks used for long-distance transport, heavy loads or in challenging conditions may require more frequent servicing. Regular maintenance helps prevent mechanical failures, ensures safety compliance and extends the lifespan of the vehicle.
What are common truck repair issues?
Trucks are subject to significant wear and tear, leading to common repair issues such as brake failures, engine overheating, transmission problems, electrical faults and suspension wear. Other issues include leaking fluids, steering difficulties, and tyre damage. Regular servicing and preventative maintenance help identify these problems early, reducing the risk of breakdowns and costly repairs. If left unchecked, minor issues can quickly become major mechanical failures.
